The angel spoke to the women: "There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed. Matthew 28:5-6 (The Message)
The only Easter tradition I remember as a child was going to church (of course) and then having brunch with our extended family on my Dad's side. I loved this tradition! First, I love brunch food :) And second, I love it when my whole family is together. I'm sure we participated in what ever Easter activities were going on at our church, but I don't remember.
I've always been big on Christmas traditions even before we had kids, but I've struggled with coming up with Easter traditions. I cherish Easter and I want my kids to understand the greatness of this day.
After my friend Patti's post about spring traditions it really got me thinking about what to do to create traditions at least for Easter. I don't mind egg hunting but I want to make sure we make the true focus about what Christ has done for us. Then this morning I read this post over at M.O.B. Society. It's about Resurrection Eggs. They are kind of like an Advent Calendar for Easter. You have a dozen plastic eggs with icons inside that represent a piece of the resurrection story. Each day you open up another egg and talk about what it means. I am SO doing this next year!!!!
I'm super excited that our church is doing a big celebration after church with games and an egg hunt. I'm also hoping to get some great spring/Easter decor on sale after Easter is over. I want to start decorating my house for different holidays, even if it's just a couple of small things. I go all out for Christmas, but that's the only holiday I decorate for. I want our home to be festive and have things around the house that cause us to talk about the holiday that is approaching.
I would love to hear some of your Easter and spring traditions! I'm a blank slate, so the more ideas the better.

I've done the Resurrection Eggs before! I used to do a Bible Study at a home for troubled teen girls & we did that every Easter. We only went once a week, so we talked about all the eggs in the one Bible study. It was really cool though. :) YAY! I love Easter, too. :)
